Salzgitter AG trade fair appearance with numerous highlights

Visit from high-ranking politicians, media tour and a world debut
 
Lower Saxony's leading politicians visited the Salzgitter AG trade fair stand in Hall 5: CEO Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann guided Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil and Bernd Althusmann, Lower Saxony Economics Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, through the exhibit. Also participating: Hauke Jagau, Regional President of Hannover. The SALCOS project (SAlzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) particularly aroused interest with its approach to CO2 reduction in steel production.

Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel presented a world debut: the digital e-AUCTION platform, which now makes it possible to purchase the Salzgitter Group's steel products in Internet auctions. "This means that Salzgitter is the first steel producer in the world to offer this opportunity," explained Thomas Schöler, Business Solutions Director. In the future, however, it should also be possible to use e-AUCTION to auction off free production capacities in addition to products. For example, if individual plants have not booked capacities for particular grades, they can auction off these capacities. This would allow Salzgitter AG to optimize its production while also allowing customers to profit. With this building block, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel is continually expanding its digitalization strategy as part of the e-WORLD platform.
