Salzgitter AG introduces its new Hot Dip Galvanizing Line 3 – the largest stand-alone investment in the last ten years
Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH has invested around €200 million in this extensive, complex produc- tion line. This investment reinforces its position as a leading provider in the premium segment for customers in the automotive industry and house- hold appliance sector. The production line was constructed by SMS group GmbH. It has an annu- al capacity of 500,000 tons, which supplements the two existing galvanizing lines, and will manu-
facture high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel grades. It will produce hot dip galvanized sheets with thicknesses between 0.7 mm and 2.5 mm and widths between 900 mm and 1,700 mm. The annealing furnace will heat and cool the material far more quickly than systems used to date. It will also achieve a higher anneal- ing temperature, enabling the production of high- strength and ultra-high-strength steel grades.
