IN DIALOGUE WITH THE EU
The Salzgitter Group amplifies its presence in Brussels
The Salzgitter Group has strengthened its presence in Brussels, welcoming Philipp Tschinke and Frederik Grüß to its branch office in the de facto capital of the EU. The Brussels office is part of the Public & Regulatory Affairs (PRA) depart- ment is overseen by Alexander Heck. It aims to position Salzgitter AG as a de- pendable partner in discussions pertain- ing to political issues of strategic rele- vance to the Group. “The majority of the most pertinent laws and regulations for Salzgitter AG are negotiated and adopt- ed by the EU institutions,” says Philipp Tschinke, explaining the rationale be- hind the increased in-person engage- ment in Brussels. “With this in mind, be-
ing represented in Brussels and engag- ing in political debates at an early stage is vital.”
Alexander Heck points to the EU climate targets as one example. “The EU has committed to achieving climate neutral- ity by 2050,” he says. “Salzgitter AG, in connection with the SALCOS® project, is seen in Brussels as a pioneer of cli- mate-neutral steel production in the EU. The task now is to continue working to- gether to establish internationally com- petitive conditions in dialogue with deci- sion-makers from the European Com- mission, the EU Council of Ministers and the European Parliament.”
