EXECUTIVES MEET APPRENTICES
Apprentices experience a steel company in 2030
The name said it all at the Executives Meet Apprentices event, held in Area FF51 (FF: Fit Future) – the new workspace and creative area on the steelworks premises. Executives Meet Apprentices is well established in the Salzgitter AG calendar and, as in recent years, was organized by the Professional Development department at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH.
A total of 20 apprentices from eleven Salzgitter Group companies prepared
for the presentation and discussion of key issues during a two-day workshop. They worked in three groups, each focusing on a different issue: “Everything’s proceeding as planned”, “Green isn’t cool any more” and “We want to do it, but conditions make things difficult”. These scenarios saw the apprentices take on the role of a steel company in 2030. During the concluding three-hour event, the apprentices covered a number of issues, including important topics such as employer
attractiveness, climate change and the planned decarbonization based on the SALCOS® program. Gunnar Groebler stated:“Isawyoung,enthusiasticpeople who engaged intensively with our ‘Salzgitter AG 2030’ strategy.” Executive Board Member for Personnel, Michael Kieckbusch, added: “By taking this journey through time, they have learned about the complexity of a company and how important it is to make the right decisions. It was a very interesting experience for us.”
