EUROPIPE extends successful reach to Australia

The Mülheim-based large-diameter pipe manufacturer is the main supplier for the Ichthys LNG Project

EUROPIPE GmbH, a joint venture of Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH and Aktien-Gesellschaft der Dillinger Hüttenwerke, has successfully extended its reach to Australia and will again be delivering the main part (410 kt; the equivalent to 60%) of a major offshore project. The Ichthys LNG Project (liquefied natural gas) is to transport natural gas from the Ichthys Field to Darwin via an 889 km sub-sea pipeline. The gas will be liquefied in one of the world’s largest LNG facilities and shipped mainly to Japan.

The project stands not only for sustainable economic benefits in Australia but also for a long-term, stable supply of cleaner energy which is to help Japan diversify its energy sources.

The production will run from April 2012 until February 2013 in the EUROPIPE Group’s large-diameter pipe mill located in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. The order secures a significant part of the mill’s production capacity during this period.
