Folastal® 3-layer PVDF - a new high performance coating

FolaSal^® is the brand name for organically strip-coated sheet from Salzgitter Flachstahl. The name stands for quality, versatility and tailor-made solutions for the widest range of applications. Salzgitter Flachstahl's strip-coated products are therefore used very successfully in numerous sectors.

Now a new high performance coating has joined the FolaSal^® family: FolaSal^® 3-layer PVDF, consisting of primer, base coat and clear coat. This system's total thickness is 55 µm. It satisfies the requirements for corrosion resistance category RC4 as defined by EN 10169. This coating is used, for example, where the corrosion risk caused by the environment, the high UV levels or the protection period required by the final customer demands a better coating. This coating is far superior to the 2-layer systems usually found. Typical applications here are buildings on the coast, power station structures and objects in desert regions.

The system is available in solid and metallic colors. Thanks to the 3-layer structure, a very wide range of visual effects can be implemented that are not possible with classic 2-layer paintwork. These include shimmering effects in which a change in the angle of observation leads to a complete color change, for example, from red to green. But special functionalities are also possible in addition to the special visual effects. For example, the new coating system is even available with anti-graffiti properties.
