Salzgitter AG at EuroBLECH 2014

EuroBLECH ranks as the plate processing industry's largest trade fair worldwide. Around 1,500 exhibitors from 40 countries will be presenting a wide range of innovative machinery, systems and materials from October 21 to 25, 2014 in Hanover.

Salzgitter AG is represented together with its subsidiaries in Hall 17, Stand D78.

As a focus point of its trade fair presence, Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH (SZFG) will be concentrating on its new brand strategy. Under the slogan of "Names sharpen the Image", SZFG has developed a new concept for naming its products that follows a clear, systematic approach. The concept is symbolized by the main exhibit of a tree made of steel on the stand that forms the basis for taking visitors through the new brand methodology. Various exhibits, such as the chassis subframe of the new Mercedes C-Class and a demonstrator illustrating the FolaSal® color spectrum, are showcased as application examples of the new products and their names.

Additional highlights showcased at this trade fair are HSD® (High Strength and Ductility) steel applications. HSD® steel, developed by Salzgitter and its partners, exhibits a high manganese content. Thanks to its mechanical and technological properties, HSD® steel is uniquely distinguishable compared with conventional high and highest strength steel materials. It is extremely strong, in connection with excellent formability, and is produced through the innovative BCT® (Belt Casting Technology), jointly developed by Salzgitter, SMS and Clausthal University of Technology. The special properties of the material are illustrated by the example of a folded double I-beam and a bumper. The BCT® process has been nominated for the Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2014, the German President's Award for Innovation in Science and Technology.

In addition, an extensive program of lectures will be offered that will concentrate on product innovations and process optimizations for new solution concepts.
