Salzgitter AG at the BAUMA

Group companies dialog with customers

BAUMA 2007, welcoming fairgoers from April 23 through to 29 in Munich, is the leading trade fair for construction machines, construction materials and mining machinery, as well as construction vehicles and construction equipment. Spreading out over an area of 540,000 square meters, more than 3,000 exhibitors will be showcasing their products and services.

For the Salzgitter Group, the BAUMA trade fair also represents an important venue for dialoging with customers and partners. At Hall A7, Stand 109/208, the Group companies Salzgitter Stahlhandel, Ilsenburger Grobblech, Peiner Träger and MHP Mannesmann Präzisrohr will be welcoming visitors.

Salzgitter Stahlhandel GmbH will be emphasizing its extensive competence as flexible system partner, modern service provider and reliable full range supplier fielding a complex program serving the construction machine industry as well as the steel construction and supplier sectors.

Peiner Träger GmbH has expanded its traditional competence in requirements tailored rolled products, and is now able to offer special sections according to individual customer requirements.

In serving the vehicle and machine building segments, PTG develops custom tailored segments together with its customers for trailers and fork-lifters. In concrete terms, this means products impressing with tight tolerances, high surface quality and further enhanced bearing strength in connection with lower weight, thereby delivering decisive economic advantages.

Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH will be featuring high-strength, abrasion-resistant and wear-resistant steel grades, such as BRINAR® and MAXIL®, for example. In the construction area, these products find use in so-called yellow goods (dump trucks, caterpillars, etc.).The high-strength and abrasion-resistant steels are produced by one of the world's most advanced water quenching and tempering (Standquette) facilities. They are characterized in particular by their consistent, uniform properties, excellent surface flatness and dimensional accuracy, as well as low internal tension and good processability and workability.

New steel materials for cylinder tube grades resistant to low temperatures are the key topic at MHP Mannesmann Präzisrohr GmbH. Hydraulic cylinders control and steer motion sequences in a multitude of devices, systems and machines deployed across a wide temperature range. In order to meet the safety requirements of cylinder manufacturers, as well as realizing lightweight design and construction concepts, the development of high-strength and ductile cylinder tube grades has been ambitiously advanced. The new materials concept enables the safe operation of hydraulic cylinders at low temperature regions of minus 20 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the increased strength, wall thicknesses can be reduced by up to 30 percent. In order to improve the surface protection of precision tubes, MHP has developed a chromium trioxide, or chromium(VI) oxide free surface coating for high performance passivation which replaces the conventional blue passivation and achieves considerably enhanced resistance against white rust.
