Terramet Stålcenter AB (TSAB), a Swedish steel trading company with the largest steel inventory in the country, is aware of the growing demand for Green Steel in the market and therefore, has increased their stock with SALCOS® Heavy Plates  (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steel) from Ilsenburger Grobblech.

TSAB, based in Jönköping, is one of Sweden's fastest growing steel trading companies. With the largest stock range in the country, the company can guarantee fast and reliable deliveries. With the first heavy plates made of low-CO2 steel, the trader expands their portfolio. “We want to send a signal that TSAB together with Ilsenburger Grobblech is working for a sustainable industry,” explains Jerker Samuelsson, CEO of TSAB, the motivation for the portfolio enlargement. “This is a forward-looking step for the company who supports the transformation of the entire steel industry”.

For more than 30 years, the steel plate distributor TSAB has been characterized by its service-oriented, reliable as well as flexible way of working and is now also in the forefront of decarbonizing the steel industry. TSAB unloads approx. 300 tons plates daily from its well-stocked warehouse in Jönköping, where SALCOS® Heavy Plates from Ilsenburger Grobblech now is a natural part of the product portfolio. “Our customers can feel confident that TSAB is able to satisfy the market's demand for low-CO2 steel and they can already today start up projects with SALCOS® Heavy Plates from TSABs warehouse. This is an opportunity as well as added value for customers, the environment and the future transition of the steel industry.”, emphasizes Jerker Samuelsson the significance of the supply expansion.

In the Swedish market TSAB is one of the first steel trading companies with low-carbon heavy plates on stock. “The transformation of the entire steel industry requires proactive partners like TSAB, who with their commitment contribute directly to positioning our quality products on the international market", Oliver Laubner, head of Sales Export at Ilsenburger Grobblech, and  Stefan Månsson, Sales Manager at Salzgitter Mannesmann (Scandinavia) AB, agree on the importance of TSAB's new product line "Green Steel".

The SALCOS® program is the key to low-CO2 quality steel in the Salzgitter Group. With SALCOS® a gradual transition to hydrogen-based processes, virtually CO2-free steel production is expected from 2033 onwards. This means that the traditional blast furnace route is replaced by direct reduction technology (DRI) and electric arc furnaces. Ilsenburger Grobblech can already be supplied with low-carbon steel from the group's own mill in Peine. The slabs are made in the electric arc furnace using scrap metal. These are important steps to enable our customers to meet the growing demand for "Green Steel" and to remain competitive.
